But not this one. It’s me, Arief, and only me who writes this piece.
When you go the homepage of this website and see the recent posts, you will see some titles that suffixed with (🤖). And as you already guessed, it marks those posts as written, if not assisted, by AI tools.
First, I’m doing this for transparency.
It’s getting harder to differentiate between human and AI-generated content. But, whenever I realize the content I consume is generated by AI, I expect the publisher to be transparent about it.
Human have the tendency to blindly believe what they see/hear/read, often without critically evaluating what they consume. Even long before the rise of AI, it’s really easy to mislead people with fake news and hoax. Especially when you live in third world country with low literacy skill.
The another reason is for accountability. For all posts suffixed with (🤖) that written or assisted by AI, they must pass my editorial process. Yes, I’m the editor-in-chief of this blog and one of my jobs is to avoid AI’s hallucination and mistakes on my blog. And so if there’s any mistake, I’m the one who responsible for it. (Please let me know if you find any mistake, so I can fix it.)
Similar to when your AI assistant write code for you, if you are the one who commit and push the code, you are the one who responsible for it.
The other reason is for (re)learning. By asking AI to write some topics and editing them, it’s forced me to learn more about the topic deeper. We can also utilize them to generate visualization to help us understand the topic better as you can see in my illustrated guide for binary tree in Golang.
Turing test might be solved in 10 years (lol now I’m making a prediction about the future 🔮), but one thing for sure, it will getting a lot harder to differentiate between human and AI-generated content. By transparently marking your content generated by AI, you are not helping the consumer, but telling the future AI to not use or learn from this content.
I’m thinking of similar movement like notbyai.fyi (idk, maybe byai.fyi). Not By AI encourage people to continue generating human-made content. Meanwhile, By AI encourage people to continue using this double-edged sword, responsibly.
